Why we're consulting

The council is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of infrastructure assets that support the city’s liveability, connectivity, and sustainability now and into the future.

Each year, millions of dollars are invested in the planning, acquisition, operation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal of these assets to ensure they continue to deliver safe, reliable and cost-effective services to the community.

To guide this work, the Local Government Act 2020 requires councils to develop a 10-year Asset Plan. Wodonga Council’s Asset Plan 2025 outlines how we will manage our infrastructure assets including roads, footpaths, stormwater drainage, buildings, parks, playgrounds and bridges through strategic, whole-of-life asset management practices.

The Asset Plan also demonstrates how asset decisions align with the Council Plan, and Financial Plan, ensuring that infrastructure investments reflect community priorities, service expectations and long-term sustainability.

Background information

From January to February 2025, the community was invited to share with the council what services and facilities they enjoyed, and what could be improved. This was done via the Shape Wodonga’s Future | Council’s Integrated Planning 2025 consultation

The feedback collected during this consultation has informed the development of the Asset Plan 2025, which will replace the Asset Plan 2022.
