Wodonga 2050 Community Vision
In July 2023, the council began working together with the community to create the Wodonga 2050 Community Vision. With this Vision in mind, the council is now focusing on the key plans listed below and wants your feedback to help shape Wodonga’s future.
The draft Vision combines ideas from the community through forums, pop-ups, conversations, and online surveys. It reflects the community’s aspirations, such as better transport and infrastructure, healthy communities, a thriving environment, spaces for everyone, connected communities, and strong advocacy for the region’s priorities. This document outlines the vision that Wodonga residents want for the city's future and helps guide the council’s priorities.
Wodonga Council Strategic Planning
In October 2024, a new councillor group was elected in Wodonga as part of the 2024 Local Government elections.
Aligning with the commencement of a new councillor group is the development of a series of strategic plans that help guide the council’s decision making. These plans include the:
- Council Plan 2025 – 2029: The Council Plan 2025-2029 is the roadmap that will shape the future of Wodonga, building on the community's vision and guiding the council's direction over the next four years.
- Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025 – 2029: The Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) is a strategic document that sets the direction for better health and wellbeing outcomes for the community.
- Asset Plan 2025: The Asset Plan is a ten-year plan that communicates the importance and magnitude of the physical assets for which the council is the custodian.
- Road Management Plan 2025: The Road Management Plan (RMP) outlines how a council manages and maintains local roads and ensures road safety, effective resource use, and provides guidelines for responding to emergencies.
- Annual Budget 2025-2026, Financial Plan 2025-2026 to 2034-2035, and Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029: The purpose of these plans is to ensure effective financial management, resource allocation and to support sustainable growth while delivering essential services and infrastructure.
Prioritising Funding for a Growing City
As Wodonga grows and costs rise, we must balance quality of life, environmental protection, financial sustainability and local investment. The council manages key assets such as roads, parks and community spaces that support essential and valued services such as transport, recreation, community facilities and environmental care.
To ensure future projects meet community needs, and as part of developing the Council Plan 2025-2029 and other strategic plans, we want to understand which services the community values and prioritises most to guide future service delivery and investment in physical assets.
Previous versions of the plans listed above can all be viewed in the document library below, alongside the council’s current service profile.
