Lukin Lane Reserve playground installation

5 December 2025

In August 2025, residents were asked to vote on their preferred design for the Lukin Lane Reserve playground. That feedback has led to the final design, and we are excited to announce that construction will commence on Monday, December 8. Works will take approximately 2 weeks.

What we heard: Design One was the most popular option during the consultation with 76% of the votes. A strong desire of the community was that the playground address the gap in play provision for kids between 2 and 8 years old.

What has been included: Monkey bars, open slides and fencing (due to proximity of the waterway) were popular features. The preferred design also includes a swing set with rubber path connection, accessible rocker, speaking tubes, rope wall and interactive game panel, wobbly bridge and pommel climbers. The roof of the play unit has been designed to provide shade coverage for play.

What has not been included: Given that Lukin Lane Reserve playground is categorised as a local level play space under our Wodonga Play Space Strategy and we have a limited budget we have not been able to include everything that the community requested. With two other play spaces within walking distance in Killara having shade sails and water provision, it has been determined to focus investment on play opportunities and other amenities. Shade is not being ignored - additional tree planting has been scheduled; however, we acknowledge that this does not have immediate effect. Further seating is planned within the reserve as budgets allow.
