Why we're consulting
We collect and handle personal information every day - whether it’s responding to service requests, managing rates, or running community consultations. Protecting your privacy is an important part of how we build trust with our community and carry out our work with integrity.
We’re updating our Privacy Policy to make sure it reflects current legislation, technology and the way people interact with council today. The policy outlines how we collect, use, store and share personal and health information in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and the Health Records Act 2001.
Key updates include:
- Clearer information about how your details are used in community consultations and engagement activities.
- Updated examples of when your information might be shared with other agencies or service providers.
- Stronger commitments to data security and the responsible handling of sensitive and health information.
- Guidance on how to access or correct your personal information held by council.
We want to make sure this policy is clear, accessible and meets community expectations about how their information is managed.
Please review the draft Privacy Policy and share your feedback before 5pm, December 16, 2025.
