Wodonga is growing, bringing new opportunities for jobs, businesses and investment. We want to make sure that growth strengthens our economy while contributing to the things that make Wodonga a great place to live, work and do business.
Wodonga Council has developed a Draft Economic Development and Investment Attraction Strategy (2026 – 2029), and we want to hear what you think.
The draft strategy sets out how Council proposes to attract new investment, prepare Wodonga for future economic opportunities and support existing local businesses to grow. Its vision is to position Wodonga as a leading regional growth city, attracting investment, talent and opportunity while ensuring Wodonga residents share in the benefits of economic growth.
Importantly, the strategy recognises that economic growth is about more than attracting businesses. Jobs, housing, infrastructure, services and liveability are interconnected, and growth needs to be planned and managed in a way that benefits the community.
There are three key strategic objectives that have been identified within the draft strategy:
1. Win investment
Attract new businesses, industries and investment that can strengthen Wodonga’s economy and create jobs. The strategy identifies opportunities including advanced manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, clean energy, circular economy industries and technology-enabled services.
2. Build the economy we need next
Prepare for Wodonga’s future by better understanding the infrastructure, land, housing, workforce and skills our growing economy will need.
3. Grow from within
Work with established Wodonga businesses that want to expand, invest, innovate or enter new markets, helping them overcome barriers and connect with opportunities.
The development of the draft strategy has gone through two stages of industry engagement since 2024 and with the draft now developed, further community and industry engagement will enable the finalising of the strategy for adoption and implementation.
Why are we asking for your feedback?
Before the strategy is finalised, we want to know whether the proposed direction reflects the type of economic future our community wants for Wodonga.
