Why we're consulting

We’re updating our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy to make sure it continues to reflect the needs, rights and experiences of everyone who lives, works or spends time in Wodonga.

This review helps us ensure our services, spaces and decisions support a community where everyone can participate and feel respected, no matter their background, ability or circumstances.

The draft policy doesn’t include major changes, but it strengthens language, updates references to legislation and aligns better with our current plans such as the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.

Please take a moment to read the draft policy and share your feedback so we can keep building an inclusive and welcoming Wodonga for all.

Please review our draft Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy and provide your feedback.

Background

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy guides how we deliver services, plan for the future and make decisions that support fairness and inclusion across Wodonga. It applies to all councillors, staff, volunteers, contractors and committee members.

The policy is built on the principles of inclusiveness, collaboration, equity and community wellbeing. It ensures that everyone - regardless of age, culture, ability, gender, faith, income or background - has the same opportunity to participate fully in community life.

It also helps the council meet important legal responsibilities and aligns with key plans including the Council Plan 2025–2029 and the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
