Diamond Park Master Plan adopted

22 May 2024

Wodonga Council presented the Draft Diamond Park Master Plan to the community for feedback between November 22 and December 12, 2023.

Since then, council officers have reviewed the feedback recieved and refined the master plan document as a result.

The following outlines the key themes of feedback received during the exhibition period and highlights the amendments that have been made to the master plan.

Infrastructure

  • The concept plan has been updated to include the weir wall, potential water activation area and how this integrates with bank stabilisation.
  • Feedback was received relating to the car park design, however the detail on the final design, exact location, size and shape will come in the planning and design stage of each individual project. Designs in the master plan are indicative only and as such no changes to the car park design were made.

Cultural inclusion

  • Feedback was given by local aboriginal community members that the plans lacked cultural overlay and that there was an opportunity to highlight and acknowledge the cultural history and storytelling in both plans. Based off this feedback both the Diamond Park and Gateway Lakes plans were updated to include a Cultural Heritage section and related items added to the overarching concept plans.

Event attraction / promotion

  • The need for greater collaborative event promotion was highlighted by one respondent and reference to this was included in the final drafts of both the Diamond Park and Gateway Lakes master plans.
