Why we're consulting
We’re seeking feedback on a Draft Asset Management Policy and Draft Asset Management Strategy 2026-2036. These documents set out how council will plan, operate, maintain, renew and make decisions about the assets that support services across the city.
Community assets include roads, footpaths and cycleways, bridges, drainage, buildings, parks, open spaces and streetscapes. We want to know whether the proposed approach is clear, balanced and responsive to community needs before the documents are finalised.
Please review our Draft Asset Management Policy and Draft Asset Management Strategy 2026-2036 and provide your feedback.

Background
Wodonga Council manages an infrastructure portfolio with a replacement value exceeding $1.13 billion, spanning roads, open space and recreation, buildings, stormwater assets and other structures.
In alignment with the Council Plan and based on the current Long‑Term Financial Plan, Wodonga Council’s average asset consumption (depreciation) over the next 10 years is projected at approximately 1.90 per cent, equating to around $21.44 million per annum in depreciation expense.
Once adopted, the Asset Management Policy and Asset Management Strategy 2026-2036 will sit alongside the previously adopted Asset Plan 2025 to give Wodonga Council a mature framework supporting good governance and informed decisions relating to asset management.
The draft policy establishes the principles, governance expectations and responsibilities that guide asset management decisions.
The draft strategy provides the direction for putting those principles into practice. It links community services needs with asset condition, risk, lifecycle planning, affordability and long-term financial sustainability
