Why we're consulting

The aim of this project for Diamond Park is to develop a conceptual master plan which reviews the recommendations within the Gateway Island Master Plan 2018, current usage and community needs while creating a planned approach for the continued development of the site.

Background information

Diamond Park is at the southern end of the Lincoln Causeway, Gateway Island and is home to the Albury Wodonga Motorcycle Club (AWMCC), Wodonga Remote Control Car club and Lake Hume Model Engineers. All three facilities are unique for the area and offer specialised opportunity for participation and community utilisation. The precinct conducts a range of state and national events regularly increasing visitation.

The location within the Albury-Wodonga connection corridor makes it accessible for local and regional community users and optimal for tourism opportunities. There is a natural reserve with Wodonga Creek frontage that has been identified for potential to improve both passive and active recreation for the community. Along with road connections, the High Country Rail trail borders the eastern side of the site.

Diamond Park has been reviewed within the Gateway Island Master Plan 2018. The objective of this planning was to establish an overarching long-term vision and values for the entire area with a lens towards future planning and business opportunities for tourism and social interaction.
