Earlier this year we sought the community’s feedback to guide the renewal of John Byrne Playground.

Two concept designs were presented for the playground with the community asked to vote for their preferred design.

Design 2 was preferred, with votes from 66.67% of participants.

This design includes a multiplay unit, with extended platforms to allow large roof coverings for increased shaded play, a glider, twin senior slide, pommel walk, café servery, bench seat, crawl tunnel, chimes panel, double rock wall, monkey bars, junior slide with stair access and a catwalk.

The swings will be replaced with a basket swing and there is an individual rocker.

John Byrne Playground will be closed from Tuesday, October 29, 2024 for the renewal works to take place. Works are expected to take up to 2 weeks.

During this time the playground will not be available.

The nearest playgrounds are Bill Black Park, Gayview Park and Hicks Reserve.
